USF Student Kelli Mentgen Leads Halloween Event for Local Children

2012 Nov 13

University of St. Francis students representing three student groups joined forces last month to put on a Halloween event for deserving children.

Kelli Mentgen, of Peru Ill. was among the students involved in the event.

Members of the university's Residence Hall Association, National Residence Hall Honorary and the Justice League welcomed 12 children from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties.

The students led the children in crafts, activities and games, including a superhero-themed game called "Buckets of Justice"-the Justice League's take on Bozo Buckets. The children also had the opportunity to trick-or-treat through Marian Hall, the university's residence hall for underclassmen.

Traci Leece, of Shorewood, was the event's lead student organizer.

"Overall the event was really fun for both the students involved and the kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters," she said. "The residents who participated in the dorms were talking about it for the rest of night, with most of them dressing up themselves."
