Ketura Taylor to serve as 2012-2013 peer minister at University of St. Francis

2012 Sep 21

Ketura Taylor, of Cary, Ill., is among 13 University of St. Francis students who have been selected as Peer Ministers for the 2012-2013 school year.

These students will assist University Ministry in the integration of the university's core values of respect, service, integrity and compassion into various aspects of student learning and life.

As a peer minister, Taylor, a special education major, strives to be living model of the example set by Sts. Francis and Clare-USF's patron saints. Ministers are responsible for developing events and programing that builds on their and their peers' spirituality while sharing the lessons of Francis and Clare with the university community.

"Student Peer Ministers will give of, grow in and share boldly their positively infectious joy found in serving Christ, speak freely of their own relationship with Jesus and their beliefs in God," said Julie Krakora, director of University Ministry. "They have a valued and respected leadership role as part of the ministry team."

Peer Ministers are assigned various roles or areas of focus for the academic year. They include residence hall programming, social justice and service learning coordination and retreat and liturgy planning and participation.

The University of St. Francis in Joliet serves 3,400 students nationwide, offering 44 undergraduate programs, four degree-completion programs and 15 graduate programs, including two doctoral programs.
